Barnsley has a lot of ex-council semis and post-war housing with flat-roofed extensions and garages that were often built with felt rather than anything more durable, particularly around Wombwell and the older parts of Dodworth, where whole streets of near-identical properties were built to the same specification in the fifties and sixties.
